چکیده
This paper is devoted to the study of solvability of an evolution equation obtained as a hydrodynamic limit of a linear Boltzmann equation with inelastic scattering term. An interesting feature of this equation is that it combines the diiusion operator and a singular operator of a kinetic type. The study is carried out in the L 1 space which is natural from physical point of view and allows to apply modiications of methods of the kinetic theory.

Effects of coupling on turbulent gas-particle boundary layer flows at borderline volume fractions using kinetic theory
This study is concerned with the prediction of particles’ velocity in a dilute turbulent gas-solidboundary layer flow using a fully Eulerian two-fluid model. The closures required for equationsdescribing the particulate phase are derived from the kinetic theory of granular flows. Gas phaseturbulence is modeled by one-equation model and solid phase turbulence by MLH theory. Resultsof one-way and...
متن کاملSymmetrization and Entropy Inequality for General Diiusion Equations
Starting from an arbitrary system of diiusion equations, a compatibility condition for a convex function is given to be an entropy associated with this system. It is shown that if such an entropy exists, then a symmetric formulation of the diiusion system exists. Conversely, if a symmetric formulation exists, then an entropy exists. Besides, some systems of diiusion equations can be derivated f...
متن کاملTransport Properties of the Hard Ellipsoid
Transport properties of isotropic uids composed of hard ellipsoids of revolution are studied using molecular dynamics simulation. The self diiusion coeecient, the shear viscosity and the thermal conductivity are evaluated for a range of densities and elongations and are compared with the results from an Enskog kinetic theory for nonspherical bodies. The full anisotropic pair correlation functio...
متن کاملSimulation of nanodroplet impact on a solid surface
A novel computational fluid dynamics and molecular kinetic theory (CFD-MK) method was developed to simulate the impingement of a nanodroplet onto a solid surface. A numerical solution of the Navier–Stokes equation using a volume-of-fluid (VOF) technique was used to model nanodroplet deformation. Dynamic contact angle during droplet impact was obtained by molecular kinetic theory. This dynamic c...
